The Beginning of Lee
It was November of 1949 when the Lee Supply story began in a small store front at 948 North Alabama in Indianapolis. With little more than a dream and a willingness to work hard, Herb Lee began a business that would become an industry leader, and one of the largest privately owned PHVACR wholesalers in the Midwest.
In the beginning, things were tough as Herb made the sales calls, wrote the orders and, in many instances, delivered the goods as well. Fortunately he had a helpful workforce with his eight children, and, over the next few years, all would be by his side working as hard as he.
Moving to Madison Ave.
Throughout the 1950’s building was booming in Indianapolis; residential, commercial and industrial. As Indianapolis grew so did Lee Supply. When the added rental space on Alabama could no longer contain the exponential growth, Lee Supply relocated to 3025 Madison Avenue on the Indianapolis south side.
Continued Progress Through Principles & Ethics
Throughout our growth, all of us at Lee Supply have never lost sight of Herb Lee’s principles supporting the importance of maintaining relationships with our customers, employees, vendors and the communities where we do business.
Keeping this in mind every time we open the doors, answer phones, write orders or load trucks helps us stay focused on what got us this far and will keep us on track for continued success.
Opening Shop on Carmel Dr.
After three major additions to Lee Madison Avenue, wheels were put into motion to expand our footprint. Lee Supply Carmel was a result. Located at 415 West Carmel Drive, Lee Carmel has now become the major hub for receiving and shipping products to our other branches.
Growth Throughout Indiana & Ohio
From that point forward growth and demand changed Lee Supply from a local two branch supply house to a multi-branch distributor and a major industry force throughout the Midwest.
After relocating Corporate offices to 6610 Guion Road on the Indianapolis northwest side, Lee Supply spread throughout the state and recently into Ohio.
